Out of the millions of websites online, how many do you think go unnoticed? Think about how many you, your friends, and acquaintances actually visit. You got it that leaves hundreds of sites unseen on a regular basis. There are many reasons these sites go unseen, but the main reason is lack of good marketing. In order for you website to be profitable, or even worth it, you must generate website traffic.

There are a number of different marketing techniques that you can use to generate website traffic. Additionally, there are hundreds of companies and freelancers that focus all of their efforts on this. Whether you focus on your own marketing or hire someone to do it is up to you; you need to find the solution that will optimize traffic to your site.

So, without traffic, what good is your website? It is quite the vicious cycle. To have an online business you need a website. In order for you website to be successful, you need customers. To get customers, you need traffic. Now that this is stuck in your head, let’s discuss some common ways to generate website traffic.

Article writing is one of the most common forms of online marketing today. It is even quite simple and cheap. If you write the articles yourself, it only takes a few hours a day. If you hire a freelancer, you base the number of articles on your budget. Articles are written with certain keywords in mind, published in online article databases, and then picked up by search engines based on keywords. Because of how this works, you know that those reading your articles are, at the very least, somewhat interested in what you have to offer. After all, they typed in words that you used in your articles.

Social networking is becoming more and more popular. Rather than using your personal accounts and pages, though, you need to create separate pages for your business (it’s just more professional). Make these pages interesting; keep them updated (daily) with pertinent information. Start with your existing friends and you will slowly branch out. Social networking has a domino effect that cannot be recreated my any other form of marketing.

While there are other forms of marketing, these are the most optimal. Unless you hire someone to write your articles for you, these options are both free and will not increase your cash outflow. All you have to do is put aside a couple hours a day to focus on marketing and you will have increased your chances of driving traffic to your new, or old, site.

Again, no traffic equals an unsuccessful business / website. Your focus on any website should be to generate website traffic. Yes your site should be pleasing to the eye and mind, but without traffic no one will care. Write your articles, spend time on your social networking sites, and you will have traffic in no time at all.

In order to be successful at Internet marketing, you must be able to generate website traffic in sizable numbers. A consistent lead generation system is an important component of your business plan.
